The DC Wharf bounds the Buzzard Point neighborhood on the northwest corner. It is impossible to disassociate change in our area with the greater development across the Southwest Washington quadrant. The Wharf, being built in two distinct phases, has been more than a decade in the making and will be fully realized in 2022.
Below are some facts about the first and second phases as well as some historical photos of the southwest waterfront and Wharf construction. There are several places to learn more about the Wharf. I recommend starting in these places:
Phase 2 Facts
SW Waterfront circa 1885. Construction of East Potomac Park off to the right
Pre-construction and demolition in 2014
Site of Phase 2 looking southeast. Circa 1995.
